Sharing the good news is one of Christ’s commands to us as believers. We are to go into the world and spread the good news. And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” Mark 16:15
We live in a world where ‘bad’ news has become the norm and we all are used to it. However, we are tasked with the good news instead. Why is that? Sometimes, I think Jesus saw the future even in that conversation. Jesus knew that bad news will only grow and that the world needs to hear what the real good news is.
The good news is simply the news of salvation; what Jesus did for you and I on the cross! The news that we are saved if we believe and confess by receiving him in our hearts. There is nothing better than this! I know sometimes it sound too good to be true, but it’s because the news is true; that’s what makes it good!
The commission is for us to go into the world, not to stay in the church and start yelling at the world. We are all tasked with this. Evangelism isn’t a department in your church, but a movement which is the church in a world that is fallen. Heaven’s attitude towards saved souls is remarkable! When people get saved, there is a party in heaven! This shows that soul winning can’t be left in the hands of a few, but in the hands of every believer.
If you are afraid to share the good news with people for different reasons – like fear, political correctness, not knowing what to say, etc – then let us encourage you with this tip. You have to remember: It isn’t your job to change people or convince them, but it is your job to tell them and pray for them. You are a messenger of the good news.
Learning how to share the good news is a lot easier than you think. Sharing something with someone requires having a relationship with them or connecting with them. The holy spirit is the one who gives wisdom and works through you to reach people. Connect with people, not in a weird, rude, or judgemental way. Connect, communicate, and then share. Your life is a testimony to others, so share and let them see what God is doing.
Finally, do not be afraid. Fear will only hinder you from connecting or sharing with people. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but that of a sound mind. Ask the holy spirit to help you and the holy spirit will. You have been given this great task and you have what it takes to deliver. Start today by saying ‘hello’ to your neighbour or inviting your colleague at work to church. Don’t try to do it all at once. Start somewhere!
I hope you will get the entire series here to help you on your journey today. Remember the most valuable asset in heaven apart from God is the human soul, and you have been tasked to help recover all souls from the enemy.
You are blessed and highly favoured.
