Blossoming in Marriage: How to Be Marriage Material

Welcome to a new month! Our theme is “Blossoming in Marriage,” and today’s topic is “How to Be Marriage Material.” When someone is deemed suitable for marriage, they are often called “husband material” or “wife material.”

Proverbs 18:22 (NLT) says, “The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD.” Similarly, a woman who finds a husband finds a treasure and receives favor from the Lord. We pray for supernatural connections in our lives.

When choosing a spouse, start from within. Develop inner beauty. While man looks at the outward appearance, the Lord looks at the heart. Cultivate spiritual attractiveness. 1 Peter 3:3-4 advises, “Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.”

Be a person of real value. Your true worth lies in your intangible qualities, not in your external appearance, which fades over time. A spiritually attractive person is loving, caring, and empathetic. To become loving, be filled with the Spirit of God. Every human is born with a flawed nature, but submission to the Holy Spirit transforms us. He pours God’s love into our hearts and heals past traumas. Galatians 5:22 describes the fruit of the Spirit, which influences our thoughts and emotions, guiding our reactions to others.

Avoid being critical of others. Matthew 7:1-5 (MSG) warns against criticizing others’ faults while ignoring our own. Instead, focus on self-improvement and offer support with humility. Learn to compliment and praise others, as it has immense value. Philippians 2:3-4 encourages us to consider others better than ourselves and to look out for their interests.

Finally, have the fear of God. Proverbs 31:30 (NLT) states, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be greatly praised.”

We pray that you will blossom in your relationships and be fruitful in every area of life. May the power of God protect you, and may no evil prevail over you.
