Marriage. Understanding God’s Plan 2.

How are you doing? We trust that you are doing well. As we continue our series for the month on “marriage”, we’d like to go through a few scriptures on what the bible says about marriage and how we can understand God’s plan for marriage. Additionally, we will learn how we can approach marriage God’s way. Trusting God with one’s marital plans is the key to a God-centered marriage.

Here are a few pointers that could help us understand God’s plan for marriage;

1.) Finding scriptures that elaborate on God’s design for marriage.

Seeking God’s will with regards to your marital plans is the first step towards understanding God’s plan for your marriage. Proverbs 19:21 says man may make his plans but it is the Lord’s will that will prevail. The bible also states in Matthew 6:33 – “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.”

2 Peter 1:5-7 “In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.”

2.) Seeking godly counsel before entering into a relationship that may lead to marriage. It is imperative that a christian couple seeks advice from another christian couple who have been married for a number of years to help navigate the courtship phase for the couple. As stated in the previous newsletter, it is important to have a God-centered life before entering into marriage. We can learn alot from Adam, Abraham, Moses, Isaac, and other prophets in the bible regarding marriage.

Ultimately, it is God’s plan for every couple to glorify him through their relationships and encourage others to do the same. God’s love should serve as the basis for a godly marriage. The bible also says in 1 John 4:7-8, “Beloved, let us love one another for God is of love and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God, he that loveth not, knoweth not God for God is love.”

We pray that God will give us the ability to trust him with our marriages/ marital plans, as well as other relationships.

Please do not hesitate to share your testimonies, and prayer requests with us. We’d love to hear about what God is doing in your lives.
