Marriage. Understanding God’s Plan

The theme for this month is “marriage”.

A marriage is defined as the union between a man and a woman. In the beginning, after God created the first man, “Adam”, He said “it is not good for man to be alone…I will make him a helper suitable for him”. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two are better than one for they have a good reward for their labor.”

Genesis 2:24 says, “Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh”.  Marriage simply models the relationship that Christ has with the church.

No two marriages are the same and I believe this promotes contentment. Nevertheless, there are a lot of Christian couples that can give advice to the younger generation. The foundation of every marriage is love. The Bible says in John 3:16 “for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

It’s possible that the pandemic has brought about unusual scenarios certain marriages but we believe that God has given every couple the wisdom to navigate it all with purpose.

Despite the teachings on marriage in the Bible, there were religious leaders who had questions about certain aspects of marriage. Some had differing views on marriage like Paul in the Bible who believed it was possible to live the single life and carry out God’s assignment whole heartedly. All of it comes down to a personal preference.

Being with another believer who holds the same values such as valuing a relationship with God, family, the church is likely to serve as a strong foundation for a good relationship. Overall, every successful marriage requires a great deal of effort.

Ephesians 5:22-24 says,

“Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

We pray that God will give us the ability to put our trust in Him.
